Science Fair and Pacific Marine Research Field Trip

I have two things to update you on.

The first is the 5th grade science fair:  The fair itself is Wednesday, March 20th. All the fifth graders will be presenting their work that morning and teachers will be grading them at that time. Parents are welcome to attend, but students are highly encouraged to also enter their projects in the Cascadia Science and Engineering Night happening in April.

Because of the missed snow days and the later 5th Grade Science Fair date, students have up until the 20th to complete their projects.

The second thing I have for you is to let you know that Mr. Brown and Mr. Hill's classes will be going on the Pacific Marine Research vessel on March 21st. This is an all day event that where students get to go out on the Sound and learn about marine ecology. It is a very fun event but it has some slightly different expectations than other field trips. Students will have to be dropped off and picked up at the pier. More details about the exact location will come soon but please prepare for this. We also need 6 chaperones for this event. If you are available, please let me know and make sure you have your paperwork turned in.

PMR Edit: Drop Off time is 8:45 and Pickup time is 2:30 at the pier.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Valentines Day

We hope you have enjoyed your time off! (Have you read a book? Done some art? Played with friends?)

Hopefully, I'll see you all tomorrow because I miss you a lot! It will be Valentine's Day and we'll have a little time for a celebration right at the end of the day after PE. If you'd like to bring Valentines, that's just fine. Just please remember to bring 29 (one for each person). If you can't remember everyone in our class (hopefully you can!) then just bring some extra blank ones and you can do them at school.

If you have a little bag to bring home the Valentines you receive (like a small brown bag from Starbucks or something) that is usually a good idea.

Look forward to seeing you soon.
Fondly,

Hill/Brown

Math Assessment

I hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying the inclement weather. Hopefully no one is going stir crazy to much.

In Pearson, I have assigned and assessment and a performance task for students to do. I was hoping they could get it done at home so that the content is still fresh in their mind. I have also assigned some review assignments that they can do to prepare for the assessments.

If students do not have the time or resources to do it at home, I will give them time in class after midwinter break.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
